H The Church‘s Head The Scripture says that Jesus Christ is the head of the church. Is He the head of your church? Many churches follow the deacons, a convention, or the traditions of men. Find a church where Jesus is “high and lifted up.”
O The Church’s Openness I’ve been in churches with good pastors that taught good doctrine but were as cold as ice. They pretended I wasn’t there! Find a welcoming, friendly church... or just decide to be a 1-man welcoming committee at your church!
M The Church’s Message The most important benchmark we should measure a church by is its message -- what do they have to say? What do they say about Jesus? Salvation? The Bible? A church needs to be a mouthpiece for God’s Words only.
E The Church ‘Experience’ Remember, it’s not all about us. Is your church’s goal to honor God and build believers, or would they rather that you felt good about yourself? Far too many of today’s churches have traded their power for a cheap substitute.
Our official church covenant states our purpose as... To inspire people to develop a heart for God, and to include them in a church family where they can be instructed, and then involved in a ministry that is family-oriented, fundamental in doctrine, and determined to aggressively impact this region and the regions beyond with the gospel of Christ.
We exist to…
Inspire people to develop a heart for God (Psa. 34) Through Christ-honoring music Through Biblically-sound preaching
Include them in a loving church family (Acts 2:41) Through Membership into our church family Through Fellowship with other believers
Instruct them in Bible doctrines (2 Timothy 2:2) Through Small-Group Studies Through Sunday School Classes (children, teens, & adults) Through the Discipleship Program
Involve them in the ministry (1 Peter 4:10) Through consistent opportunities for service Through a variety of programs & ministries
Impact Spencer County & the World with the gospel of Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:1-20) Through a Weekly Outreach Program Through a Worldwide Missions Program Through an Addictions Program (R.U.)
